Christina Lavinia Lentz B77- C. Levinia Lentz was born 19 Nov 1816 in Rowan Co., NC, sponsor at baptism was Charles Hartman, according to Organ Church Baptismal Records.
The Hartman family had married into the children of B1- Bastian Lentz, Jr., No other connections are known with the family. Her name is believed to have been Christina Lavinia Lentz. Her older brother B1- Charles named a daughter C. Lavinia, apparently as a namesake for his sister.
No marriage records were found. Perhaps the Cabarrus Co. records were not searched thoroughly.
The 1830 census of Cabarrus shows C. Levina age 10-15, and she would have been age 14. This census record also shows Margaret age 5-10), and Margaret would have been age 8.
The 1840 census of Iredell Co. shows them with 1 daughrter age 15-20. This would be Margaret. C. Levina Lentz had left the family before the 1840 census. She probably married in Iredell where many records were destroyed by fire.
She reportedly married one A. M. Miller, but we have no documentation. Unrecognized GEDCOM data: Unknown GEDCOM tag: _UID D155A3D50B94B54F8B1C1C3960F953BAA32B. She was born on 19 November 1816 at Rowan County, North Carolina; Source states: 'Born Nov. 19, 1816, C. Levinia (Lentz), baptized Jan

Nancy Lentz B74- Nancy Lentz was born 12 Jan 1808 in Rowan Co., NC, sponsored at baptism at the Old Organ Church by John Miller. (Note: Several John Millers show on census records. The one who married D3- Elizabeth Lentz, first cousin of B7- Jacob is most likely the sponsor named.)
It is known that this Nancy Lentz belongs to B7- Jacob, because J5- Jacob Lentz had a daughter J57- Nancy Lentz, born 12 Jul 1807, by her husband's family records. (I don't understand the reasoning but I'm leaving this remark in for the time being in hope of having insight later.)
The 1810 census of Rowan Co. shows Jacob Lentz with 1 son and three daughters under age 10. This would be Charles, Sarah, Sophia, and Nancy.
The 1820 census does not show a Jacob Lentz in Rowan, and Cabarrus does not show anyone named Lentz.
The 1830 census of Cabarrus shows the oldest daughter at home to be under age 15. They were C. Lavinia and Margaret. All the older girls had married and left home. (?)
No marriage records were found for Nancy, but Cabarrus Co. records appear to be incomplete. The family names without first names may indicate heads of households who were murdered by the 'masqueraders' who killed 100 of these German settlers on 22 Sep 1711. Many of these Germans had left New Bern before the petition was signed and presented. The 'frontier' seemed to be safer than being among the English settlers around New Bern. Twelve families without a head of the household may have wanted to remain near the murders. Jesse E Lentz1

M, b. 2 December 1831, d. 17 July 1913
FatherCharles Lentz b. 19 Nov 1803, d. 29 Apr 1865
MotherSusannah Simmone b. 3 Aug 1805, d. 10 Apr 1883
Jesse E Lentz (As edited from LENTZ HERITAGE, p. 65, 66, etc.)
B714- Jesse E. LENTZ, b. 12 Dec 1831 (also shown as Dec 2), d. 17 Jul 1913, probably in Rowan Co., NC.
He was born with the LENTZ surname. After his father B71- Charles LENTZ moved his family to Murray Co., GA, in about 1847, at some time he changed the surname to LANCE. This is the reason why Jesse's surname is shown as LENTZ/LANCE.
He married Sarah BRASNELL IN 1859, who was an English immigrant, who survived him. They had no children.
The 1850 census shows him in Macon Co., NC. He followed a wagon-train to Anna, IL, in 1851, with only his clothes and a 25-cent piece, worn so thin that a merchant allowed him only 20-cents for it. In Jan 1855, he left for the California Gold Fields. To get there, he spent 28 days getting to New York after being delayed 21 days by a snow drift and 2 days by a wreck. Then from New York to Panama. After reaching Panama, since the railroad across the isthmus of Panama was not yet built, it took two days for him to reach the Pacific Ocean. From there it was by boat to California. He returned by the same route in the fall of 1858. The railroad across Panama was completed the year after his first crossing of the isthmus so it undoubtedly took him let time to cross the isthmus on the return trip.
While in California, he made his money as a blacksmith (a trade he learned from Adam Cruse in Jonesboro, Union Co., IL) making and repairing tools for the miners, He was noted 'for making two pieces of iron stick together.'
Later, in Anna, IL, by then a railroad town, he went into blacksmithing and the implement business. Due to poor health, he sold out in 1884 to Jacob Hileman and son George. After recovery, he visited his brothers Jacob and Peter in NC and took up real estate in Anna. He was once president of the Southern Illinois State Fair.
He made money during the Civil War, bought a farm in GA for $700 and sold it in 1871 to brother Charles for $300. He also helped brother James K. P. LENTZ settle on a farm near Anna, in Union Co., IL. Also, he kept his niece B7114- Addie J. LENTZ while she attended college in Anna, since Jacob was caring for their mother.
In 1887 he visited his brother B711- Jacob in Stony Point, NC, when he was recovering from illness, probably pneumonia (it is unclear, as stated, which one had been ill). His second visit was in 1904, the same year his Aunt Margaret 'Peggy' BOST died, and the picture of Jesse standing and Jacob seated was made. The picture was taken by B71128- James 'Jim' Erma LENTZ (1891-1971) who was living with Jacob at the time.
He and his wife celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1909, leaving a newspaper account of the two-day event. He was presented a gold-headed walking stick and she received a gold pin. He always wore a gold nugget on his watch chain, making it easy to identify him in pictures in the family album. The attorneys notified all his brothers and sisters of the settlement date of his $13,000 estate and invited them to the hearing, but none went.2 He was Marriage; Person Source.3 Jesse E Lentz was also known as Jesse E. Lents. Unrecognized GEDCOM data: Unknown GEDCOM tag: _UID 2EB5EB0CC33DD1409796C06540A1D7B8ADB2. He was born on 2 December 1831 at Rowan County, North Carolina; Source states: 'Born Dec 2, 1831, Jesse (Lentz), baptized Feb 18,
1832, parent Chas. Lentz, sponsor, parents.' Notice that LH also
gives Dec 12, 1831 as the birthdate.4 He was baptized on 18 February 1832 at Zion (Organ) Lutheran Church, Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina; See source entry for birth, which also contains baptismal information. He married Sarah Brasnell at Union County, Illinois, on 11 December 1859.5 Jesse E Lentz died on 17 July 1913 at Anna, Union County, Illinois, at age 81.6

When she was twenty years old she went to a church revival with her parents and met a young man named Harlie Michael Lance, son of Michael and Nancy Jane (Duncan) Lance. Harlie's mother was a widow living on a farm in Curry County whose husband had died when Harlie was only five years old. They were married on 21 Feb 1915 by the Rev. G. E. Harmon.
During the first few years of their marriage they lived on a farm, then Harlie became a postman in Clovis. They were members of the First Baptist Church and always took an active part in the church. The Lance family enjoyed traveling and went on many trips. Bessie Ruth Lance died in the Clovis Memorial Hospital on 19 Oct 1959 after suffering a fatal stroke, but she held onto life until all four of her sons arrived. She was buried in a new cemetary in Clovis, the Lawn Haven Memorial Park, located on what was then the northeast edge of Clovis on state highway 209. Her loving husband Harlie was buried beside her when he died in 1966.
The 1920 Curry Co., NM, census shows her as age 27, married to H. M. Lance, Spoke, read and wrote English. Born in MO, father born in MO, mother b. in MO. Occupation: housewife. Two children: Harold, age 4, and Ernest, age 2. She was buried at Lawn Haven Memorial Park, Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico.1 Her married name was Lance.
