In the 1830 US Census, his father John Boyd was living with him in Lawrence County (despite the agreement recited above by John Boyd, Jr. to care for his father?). . .Eight days after his eldest son Thomas Martin Boyd was married on 9 Aug 1854 in Lawrence Co., Elisha went to Bloomington and married Mary Jane Tilford, with whom he had four more children. About four years later, in 1858, he sold all his land and moved with two of his three adult and now all married children, and two young ones by his second wife to Coles County, IL, one mile from Mattoon, where his two youngest children were born. Elisha remained there until 1871 when he retired from farm work and moved with his second family, then aged 8 and 15, to Carbondale, IL in order to provide better educational opportunities for the chldren' , p. 24 between 1827 and 1873 at Indiana.5 He was charter member, Bedford (IN) Christian Church.5 Elisha was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census at Shawswick, Lawrence County, Indiana. 1258 1258 Elisha Boyd 47 male farmer $6000 Kentucky; Phoebe 45 female NC; William E. 22 male farmer Indiana; Polly A. 20 female Indiana.6 He witnessed an unknown person 's death at Bedford, Lawrence County, Indiana, on 19 May 1852.1 He married Mary Jane (Martha) Tilford at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, on 17 August 1854.7 Elisha Boyd died in 1873 at Carbondale, Jackson County, Illinois.2 He was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Carbondale, Jackson County, Illinois.1

     Mary Elizabeth Boyd was born on 13 April 1826 at Avon, Sainte Genevieve County, Missouri; LAWS - Mary E Boyd was born in St. Genevieve County, Missouri April 13 1826. - obituary 1904.2,3 She married Wylie R Laws at Missouri in July 1842.2,3 As of circa 1843,her married name was Laws.2 Mary Elizabeth Boyd died on 26 April 1904 at Waverly, Morgan County, Illinois, at age 78; LAWS - Mary E Boyd was born in St. Genevieve County, Missouri April 13 1826. She wa married to Wesley R Laws in July 1842. To this union eleven children were born, four of whom preceded her to the grave, as also her husband some twelve years ago. Those remaining to mourn their loss are James, of Litchfield; Sarah Brown, of St. Louis; Mary Work, of Missouri; Lizzie Tosh, John Frank, and Wilson of this city. There are thirty-nine grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren. After a lingering illnes at her home in Waverly, she passed away Tuesday April 26, 1904, age 78. Grandma was very patient during her long suffering, bearing her afflictions without a murmur, and was perfectly resignd to the will of the Lord expressing her willingness to depart. She called her sons to her bedside, and exhorted them to prepare for death, saying "You must die." She was a kind, faithful, devoted mother, always seeking the comfort of her loved ones, but she has gone to receive the reward prepared for the faithful. Her heart was given to the Lord when quite young, and she was faithful til death.

But Thy memory will be cherished
