Relationship to Jonas unknown -- My Family database links Enoch to Solomon Leonard of Bridgewater, Plymouth, MA.3
He married Abigail Rolph, daughter of Stephen Rolph and Abigail Temple, on 17 November 1790 at Vermont; IGI has Abigal Ralphs m Jonas Leonard 17 Nov 1790, MA, Middlesex, Marlboro Marlboro cons part of Cumberland County, NY.1 Jonas Leonard was census 1790 on 1 April 1791 at Pomfret, Windsor County, Vermont; Leonard Jonas 1 male over 16; 0 males under 16; 2 females. Could 1 of the females be Abigail's mother? Where then was Stephen?3 Jonas was listed as the head of a family on the 1800 Census at Charlemont, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Jonas Leonard| 5 males 0 thru 9; 1 male 26 thru 44; 1 female 26 thru 44.4 He married Nabby Hill on 17 November 1803 at Hampshire County, Massachusetts.1 Jonas Leonard lived; Windsor County, VT? Hampshire County, MA (Warwick Town?)1 Jonas was listed as the head of a family on the 1810 Census at Worthington, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Jonas Leonard 2 males under 10; 1 male 10-16; 2 males 16-26; 1 male 46+; 1 female under 10; 2 females 16 to 26; 1 female 46+
2 males under 10 -- we have three (Stephen 2; Ephraim 5, Eber 6); 1 male 10-16 - we have three (Judah 11; Ezra 13; Jonas 16); 2 males 16-26 (Jesse 17 and Levi 19); 1 male 46+ (Jonas); 1 female under 10 (Abigail 1); 2 females 16-26 -- who are these? 1 female 46+ Nabby Hill, second wife of Jonas.5 He died on 19 March 1821 at Charlemont, Franklin County, Massachusetts, at age 60; then Hampshire County.6 He was buried at Village Cemetery, Charlemont, Franklin County, Massachusetts.1 He Also in 1790 Hampshire County, MA, 127 (Warwick Town) and Hampshire County, MA 132 (Worthington Twp). 1800 census, acc to IGI, Plymouth County, MA, 64 (02120; 00010 -- seems a little old for this Jonas Leonard); Hampshire County, MA 192 (50010-00100-00 -- quite a bit younger -- the wife is 16-26! Could fit Abigail, who would have been 25 at the time). Hampshire County, MA 38 (01101-12201-00 -- again, a little old). Information on Jonas Leonard and Abigail Rolf from the book 'Memorial. . .of Solomon Leonard, 1637' by Manning Leonard (1896) in NHHS. The book is frustrating, because it lists dates but not places. The book claims 'We have the record of the births of 16 children. . ' of Andrew Leonard and wife Dorothy (or Hannah), but he does not list places. The Rutland VR and the Oakham VR do not have many relevant entries, although Jonas was to have been born in Rutland. Still needs work. 1790 VT census, Pomfret, Jonas Leonard, 1 male 16+, 2 free white females. What about 1790 census Hampshire County, MA? In Plymouth County, Bridgewater Town VR Marriages, is a Chloe Allen of Oakham and Jonas Leonard, int. 21 Jan. 1804. Any relevance?1
