Retired Minister's Wife Dies in Raleigh
Mrs. Bettie L. Bradley, wife of the Rev. J. W. Bradley, retired, died on Monday, Janiuary 4, in Raleigh. Mrs. Bradley had been ill for a long time and was a patient at the Glenwood Hills Nursing Home at the time of her death.
Mrs. Bradley and Mr. Bradley wsre married in 1909. She was a good wife of a good Methodist preacher. She was from Stanly County. Her activities in the churches where her husband served as pastor made a great contribution to the people they served.
Funeral services were conducted at the Hayes Barton Methodist Church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. by Dr. W. L. Clegg, her pastor, assisted by Dr. W. A. Cade, long time friend of Mrs. and Mrs. Bradley.
Surviving are her husband; two children, Mrs. John L., Cameron and J. W. Bradley, Jr., of Raleigh; one brother, L. A. Lentz of Raleigh; and four sisters, Mrs. B. W. Lanier of Norwood, Mrs. C.S. Bennett of High Point, Mrs. Leslie Bennett of Fayetteville and Mrs. John K. McNeiill, Sr., of Raeford; and five grandchildren.

Methodist Minister Rev. James William Bradley Dies
The Rev. James William Bradley, who at 89 was the oldest member of the North Carolina Methodist conference, died last night in the Glenwood Mills Nursing Home here following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at Hayes Barton Methodist Church here at a time to be announced. The family will be at 3011 Eton Road, Raleigh.
A native of McDowell County, the Rev. Mr. Bradley's parents were the late Willis and Millie Ann Bradley. He was educated at Weaverville College (class of 1900) and in 1899 was admitted to the Western N.C Conference at Concord.
The following year he transferred to the Eastern Conference and was ordained an elder at Edenton Street Methodist Church here in 1904. During the next 45 years, he served the following churches: Ball's Creek, Troy, Rowland, Raeford, Lumberton, Hookerton, Elizabeth City, Roxboro, Siler City, Fairmont, Jonesboro Heights, Zebulon, and Princeton.
Upon retirement in 1944, he and Mrs. Bradley made their home near Raleigh on the Cary highway and he served the nearby Apex-Macedonia charge for several years. He often filled other pulpits in this section and taught Sunday School classes.
It was while he was at Raeford in 1909 that he married Bettie Lentz and they were companions for more than 50 years. Mrs. Bradley died in January 1960. Surviving are two children, J. W. Bradley of Raleigh and Mrs. John Cameron of Falls Chjurch, VA; five grandchildren; and two brothers. George Bradley of Forest City and Vernon Bradley of Old Fort.

Rev. Bradley Dies Following Lengthy Illness
The Rev. James William Bradley, 89, died last night in Glenwood Hills Nursing Home here following a long illness. He was the oldest member of the North Carolina Methodist Conference, having ben a minsiter for 62 years.
A native of McDowell County, he graduated from Weaverville College and was admitted to the Western N. C. Conference in 1899.
A year later he moved to the Eastern Conference and was ordained an elder at Edonton Street Methodist Church in 1904. He served 14 charges.
After his retirement in 1944, he and his wife, the former Bettie Lentz, moved near Raleigh on the Cary Hihgway, where he served the nearby Holly Springs Apex-Macedonia charge.
Surviving are one son, J. W. Jr. of Raleigh; one daughter, Mrs. John Cameron of Falls Chruch; five grandchildren; and two brothers, George of Forest City and Vernon of Old Fort.
The family will be at 3001 Eton Road in Raleigh.
Funeral Services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Hayes Barton Methodist. The Rev. Paul Carruth, pastor of Hayes Barton Methodist; Dr. W. L. Clegg, Superintendent of the Burlington District, will officiate. The ministers of the Methodist Conference will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Burial will follow in Montlawn Park.

Surviving also are his brothers, Phil Cameron of Jacksonville, Fla., and Dan Cameron of Lenoir; plus five grandsons, Will Cameron, Chad Cameron, Lans Cameron, Jason Pearce and Cameron Pearce.??Upon receiving his education at Elon College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Cameron served the state of North Carolina as director of the Division of School Planning before moving to the Federal Government where his career culminated in the Department of Commerce as director of Public Telecommunications.??He also was a veteran of World War II, being discharged from the U.S. Navywith the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Prior to that, he was on the faculty of Louisburg College, as an instructor and as the athletic director.??He was an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects and a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Council of Educational Facility Planners. Some of his other professional associations were with the American Association of School Administrators, the Council of Education Facility Planners, and the Association of Educational Communications and Technology.??He was a longtime member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, having served as Chair of the Building Committee for the current Sanctuary and the moving of the Chapel. He also served in many other leadership positions within the church, and was honored to have a Sunday school class named in his honor: the Cameron Class.??Some of the civic organizations in which Dr. Cameron provided leadership during his retirement years were: the Residents Association of Springmoor Life Care Community, the Senior Democrats Club, and the Wake County Men's Garden Club.??The Memorial service willbe at 3 p.m. at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 23. The family will have visitation from 7-9 p.m. in the church parlor on Saturday, February 22.
