CSA records show L.A. LENTZ, age 18, hazel eyes, dark hair, fair complexion, height 5'9', b. in Rowan, enlisted from Cabarrus 17 May 1864, trained at Cp Holmes, assigned to Co. G, 5th Regt, NC Inf on 11 Oct 1864, fought for Gen Lee's army from Oct 1864 until surrender. He surrendered with Gen. Lee at Appomattox, VA. He was a private.
