At St. Paul's centennial celebration in 1940, they listed Mrs. Gordon Snyder of Chambersburg, PA, as the daughter of the late Rev. David S. LENTZ (D42B-) who donated a new organ to the church. They expressed special honors to the late (B7111-) Rev. H. Max LENTZ, and to Mr. Frank HAITHCOX, a nephew of D4O1- Rev. Henry Clay HAITHCOX, D.D.. Frank HAITHCOX, a nephew of D4O1--Rev. Henry Clay HAITHCOX, D.D.. Frank HAITHCOX was a grandson of D4O- Mary A. LENTZ and James Allen HAITHCOX.

The first church councilmen elected 9 Oct 1840 included D42-Henry LENTZ and B76- David LENTZ. Sunday School organized in 1849 with terachers: D422- Caleb LENTZ, D424- Elia Jerry LENTZ, and D425-Lucinda LENTZ. Andrew RICKER was one of the first councilmen and the father of Margaret RICKER, who was the FIRST wife of D424-Elias 'Jerry' LENTZ.

The first LENTZ people to move to Iredell left Rowan about 1834. B7-Jacob LENTZ & wife Mary YOST sold their farm in Rowan in 1836 and show on a farm in Iredell between his son B78-Adam LENTZ and his son-in-law Paul BOST. The church was started some time in 1839 or 1840 and finished in the spring of 1840. B7-Jacob LENTZ is shown in Lutheran records as a Lay Preacher. He was the first to sign a pledge to help build the church, pledged $5 and worked 25-1/2 days at 50 cents a day and credited with #12.75 for his labor. Only one other man had a higher credit of $18.50. B7-Jacob LENTZ was a carpenter and cabinetmaker.

D42-Henry LENTZ was at the end of the list as if he arrived late, so no pledge was shown, but he was credited $6.38 for work done. This fits into the obituary of one of his daughters who said they moved to Iredell in 1842. There were 76 signatures making pledges or doing work. They were closed by the following: 'The records have been examined and found in order,' with three signatures including D42-Henry LENTZ. We cannot identify him on any census records or land records or marriage records. If he had died early, or before 1840, he would have been buried in Rowan Co, probably at Organ Ch. If he died after 1840, he would have been buried at St. Paul's Luth. Ch. near Statesville, NC. His tombstone records have not been reported to us. If he went west as a young man, we have received no inquiries about him. He was a son of D4-Davalt LENTZ, Jr. by Organ Ch. baptismal records. Every effort has been made to fit him into the various families, to find him on the censuses, to locate a marriage. He was sponsored at baptism by his uncle D2- Peter LENTZ, the tailor. He may have died early or moved to the west and married in another state. It is felt that we have no other records on this member of the family.
