Robert Rogers1

M, b. circa 1800, d. between 1826 and 1850
Robert Rogers was also known as Robin Rogers. He was born circa 1800 at Kentucky.1 He married Cynthia Alcorn, daughter of Robert Alcorn and Mary "Polly" Elledge, on 26 February 1824 at Clay County, Kentucky; From: G. M. Thompson's (1937) Pike County History
"Robert Rogers, a brother of David Redmon, married Cynthia Alcorn, an
elder sister of Fanny, the two Rogers brothers marrying the two Alcorn
sisters on the same day in a double wedding, February 26, 1824. Together
the two couples came to Illinois, leaving Harrison county on October 3, 1826."
Thompson, Ch 79: "The Rogers family, in pioneer Kentucky, had already become related by marriage to the Elledges and the Boones; two brothers of Thomas J. Rogers — David R. and Robert (Robin) — married two daughters of Robert (Robin) Alcorn and Mary Elledge, she a daughter of Francis Elledge and Charity Boone.1 Robert Rogers died between 1826 and 1850 at Pike County, Illinois; nothing further found (Gary Rolph Dec 2007.)

Henrich Lentz1

M, b. circa 1675, d. 3 March 1744
FatherJohannes Lentz b. s 1645
MotherAnna Cathrin ? b. s 1650
Henrich Lentz was Marriage; Person Source.2,3 He Personal History of Henrich Lentz

Dr. Gerhard Hein's transcription of the Hirschland/Postroff church book shows that Henrich LENTZ was a citizen of Postroff, (originally) from Zweibrücken which is north of Postroff and east of Saarbrücken. According to the information we received from Ed Dodd's translator, he is shown on the church book as 'from Posdorf' but this, I think, probably is a translation garble caused by the pastor's almost illegible handwriting.

The entry in Dr. Hein's work, p. 208, on Henrich LENTZ and his family follows, as translated from German:

LENTZ, Henrich, from Zweibrücken, citizen of Postorf [Postroff]. Served as a
godparent for children in 1703, 1708, 1717, 1718, 1722, 1725, and 1729.
Married to Appolonia BRAUN, whose father was Niclaus BRAUN, a citizen of
Postorf [Postroff], on 8 Jun 1699 in Hirschland [Hirschland is a neighboring village, actually in Alsace whereas Postroff is in Lorraine]. The village of
Postroff had no church house at the time and Postroff residents were
parishioners of the Lutheran Church in Hirschland. He died on 3 Mar 1744 at
69 years of age, which indicates that he was born on about 3 Mar 1675,
probably near Zweibrücken. [NOTICE that whereas Ed Dodd's translator saw Appolonia's surname as 'GRUNING,' Hein saw it as BRAUN'; the pastor's notoriously bad penmanship probably explains this difference. I studied the old German script for both of these surnames a little bit and found them amazingly similar to my untrained eyes. For another reason to accept the BRAUN surname, see the entry for Appolonia's father.]

Notice that it appears that only two of Henrich's nine children reached
adulthood, one of these being our Hans Peter LENTZ..

None of us have ever doubted that life must have been very hard. One of
the documents in Dr. Hein's work dated 1742 shows that Henrich LENTZ and
Peter LENTZ's occupation at the time was taglöhner, which is the German
word for 'day laborer.'

2. Anna Catharina, b. 29 Sep 1701, comfirmed in 1714, died 25 Jan 1721.

.
In Dr. Hein's book, on p. 207, it states:

LENTZ, N.
K: 1. Henrich, from Zweibrücken
2. Catharina, TP 1701.

Is this Henrich the father of Hans Petrus? If so, the first name of Hans Petrus's grandfather must have begun with 'N.' [Nickolas, Nickel?] On the other hand, it's possible that the 'N.' simply means the pastor did not know Henrich's father's first name. Unrecognized GEDCOM data: Unknown GEDCOM tag: _UID A89AF48EF6CE774ABCF2AE65CB8B3BBB563F. He was born circa 1675 at Postroff, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France; "year of birth an estimate based on his death on 3 Mar 1744 at age 69. We have found no record of his date of birth" James Lance;
The [Dr. Gerhard Hein Familianbuchen] churchbook entry is too abbreviated to be certain that this person was actually the father of our Henrich LENTZ. Dr. Hein's practice is/was to use "N." to mean that the name is unknown--in this case the first name. ("N.N." would mean that both the first and last names were unknown.] The entry does show, however, that he had two children, the first of whom was "Henrich, von Zweibruecken," a phrase which is also stated on the entry for Henrich LENTZ himself. I consider it quite possible, therefore, that this entry was for the father of our Henrich LENTZ. The full entry is as follows LENTZ, N.,
K:(Kinder=Children]
1. Henrich (von Zweibruecken)
2. Catharina, TP 1701.1
Henrich Lentz was also known as Heinrich Lentz.1 He was born on 31 October 1686 at Siegen, Siegen-Wittgenstein, Nordhein-Westfalen, Germany.4 He married Apollonia Braun, daughter of Niclaus Braun and wife ?, on 8 June 1699 at Hirschland, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France; P. 11: 18 Jun 1699 - marriage - Henrich LENTZ from Posdorf - married Appollonia GRUNING - her father's name was Nicko[?] GRUNING.' Note: the information shown in Dr. Hein's book p. 208, showns that his bride's surname was BRAUN, not GRUNING. An examination of Germanic script used in those days, coupled with this pastor's notoriously bad handwriting makes it easy to see how the scribble could be mistaken for GRUNING. I have elected to consider Dr. HEIN's rendering as more accurate.5,6,7 He resided at Postroff, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France.
