Daniel Osborn is included in the rateables Feb 1779 and Feb 1780 for Elizabeth Township, Springfield WArd, Essex Co. The 1779 list indicatges he was taxed on 34 acres, while the 1780 list gives only 27 acres, but does include a 3/2 tanyard. Also on 1780 list, but not on the one for 1779, is a widow Osborn for 7 acres and a 3/1 tanyard. This is interpreted to mean that Daniel died in 1779 and the widow in 1780, and the she, posibly the dower right, had the missing 7 acres and a one-third interest in the tanyard, the balance being int he estate of Daniel..2

Elias Osborn was born circa 1723 at Elizabeth Town, Essex County, New Jersey; Various family writings, apparently all from the same source, say that Elias was the son of one Enos, and that Enos was the son of Joseph. However, the only Enos of record was the son of Joseph #60 and was born ca 1725, some two years after Elias. AsElias lived on the proerty which has father Joseph had received from his father-in-law Joseph Bond, it seems conclusive that there was no Enos intervening. It is also interesting that Elias, the youngest son, inherited the land which Joseph and Abitgail had first settled, and Elias in turn left it to his youngest son, and that it continued to be bequeathed each generation to the youngest son until the last of the property was finally disposed of in 1912, 200 years later.
The family historians have also had pleasure in stating that Elias had twenty-one children, including two sets of twins. As there is no indication of any twins, and ony eleven children are named in his will, it is assumed that the twenty-one is an exaggeration. There is also much on his service in the Revolution.2 He married Hannah Baldwin at Elizabeth Town, Essex County, New Jersey, in 1751.3 He witnessed Hannah Baldwin's death at Elizabeth Town, Essex County, New Jersey, circa 1763.4 He married Hannah Gray at Westfield, Union County, New Jersey, on 7 November 1764.5 He witnessed Hannah Gray's death at Elizabeth Town, Essex County, New Jersey, on 4 September 1784.
