After 1741 settlement the area was called Litchfield (Mass? N.H.?) Probably not the same as this Benjamin, who would have been only 5 at the time! He came to New Ipswich with his brother Ephraim or very soon after, and settled upon the same lot and adjoining lot at the west, N.D. 25, since occupied by Benjamin A. Clark and by Reed Tenney, where the two brothers held their land in common for many years, although later Benjamin removed his home to the last named lot. He, like his brother, was a valued citizen and an approved holder of official positions, being Proprieter's Clerk before the incorporation of the town for several years and town clerk afterward, and selectman for nine years. He served upon at least two calls for troops in the Revolutionary struggle, and failed to have a part in the contest at Lexington only because the patriotic uprising was so general that, with some other men from New Ipswich and other more distant towns, he was dismissed before reaching Cambridge. he was in the company of Capt. Smith, and whle encamped near White Plains his blanket was stolen from him while asleep, the resulting exposure causing a life-long lameness and ultimately a complete inability to walk. He was chosen a deacon at the same time as his brother. Children i. Joseph, b. Feb. 3, 1752; d. Mar. 30, 1752 ii. Priscilla, b. Mar. 15, 1753; d. Feb. 17, 1777; m. Oct. 12, 1772, John Warner iii. These children were spread between all four of her marriages.

Sarah Ann Marsh was born 18 April 1852 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her mother had married Isaac Hill prior to her birth and Sarah's earliest years were spent living in the Salt Lake Second ward where her step-father was the Bishop. After her mother's divorce from Isaac Hill and subsequent marriage to James Polly Brown, Sarah stayed with her mother living first in Manti, Utah and then helped to colonize the Rockville area in southern Utah. After her mother divorced James Polly Brown, Sarah returned with her to the Salt Lake area. While Sarah was attending a dance at Black Rock on the shore of the Great Salt Lake, she met William Heap. Sarah married William Henry Harrison Heap in Salt Lake City, Utah on 19 October, 1867. She and her husband accompanied her mother and other family members back to southern Utah and later moved with them to Star Valley Wyoming via Bear Lake, Idaho. Sarah and William Heap were the parents of eleven children. Sarah died 7 February 1919 in Thayne, Wyoming.[195]

A story is told that when Martha lay dying she called her oldest child, Sarah Ann Marsh, to her bedside and told Sarah that James Henry Marsh was not really her father; but that in fact her real father had been John Hopwood Blazzard. Sarah later told this incident to Georgeanna Blazzard Jennings, a daughter of Thomas Searcy Blazzard.[196]5
