     Stephen Jordan was born between 1585 and 1589 at Wherstead, Denham, County Suffolk, England; see notes.1 He was carpenter and farmer - Andrews Genealogy (2nd ed, 1914; NHSL.1 He married first wife ? in 1612/13 at Denham, County Suffolk, England; NEngland Families GenWEB.1 He witnessed an unknown person 's death at Wherstead, Denham, County Suffolk, England, between 1630 and 1633/34.1 Stephen Jordan and Francis Jordan lived in 1634 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts; Francis Jordan (1634 Ipswich) appeared in Ipswich at the same time as Stephen Jordan. Stephen was probably about twenty years older than Francis, and there is no evidence of any interaction between them in New England, but a relationship between the two is possible.2 Stephen, Susannah and Jane immigrated, on 24 May 1634. Destination: Massachusetts.3 Stephen Jordan lived between 1636 and 1669 at Essex County, Massachusetts; "He settled in Ipswich, Mass, where he was a proprieter, 1636; herd keeper, 1645. He removes to Newbury around 1648-1650 (p. 73). email from Kate And@aol.com citing 'Genealogical Guide to Early Settlers in America' has birth and death date and place. 'Stephen came to America in 1633/1634 by himself in the 'Mary and John,' his wife having died, and his daughters coming over later. He settled in Ipswich, and later, on 20 Oct 1653, he sold his land there and removed to Newbury. He married Susanna, the widow of Nathaniel Merrill. A.F. has also 25 Jan 1673 as death date to Ipswich MA 1648 (Farmer GenRegFstSt) Mariana wrote that 'the inventory of the estate of Stephen Jordan, who deceased 8 Feb 1669' is reprinted verbatim Essex County Probate Files, Docket 15, 246, and includes among others a debt to Abell Merrill for dayes works done for moweing and makeing hay & planting and hiling & cutting wood, & c, 3li, 13 s, besides attendance upon him both night and day for these 3 last years which if it be made up 10li he would be a looser.' 'The Family of John PIKE of Newbury, Massachusetts' by Allan Raymond Pike; Penobscot Press; 1996; page 713 says: It is supposed that Nathaniel was married before leaving England. However, Savage, in the 'Genealogical Dictionary of New England' (published in 1861) states that Nathaneil [sic] MERRILL married Susanna JORDAN (this may have just been copied from Coffin's 'History of Newbury' (1845). Torrey is generally considered a major successor to Savage's work and has had two supplements since his original volume was published. I give to my son Amus [WRIGHT] One hundred Acres of land including the house wherein he now lives & the price of a new Saddle and Bridle & I likewise give to my son William [WRIGHT] a feather Bed and furniture & and I give to my son Evins a milch cow a feather bed and furniture and the price of a good saddle and Bridle. I give to my son John [WRIGHT] a cow and Calf or the Value thereof in Gold or Silver & I give to my son Philburd [WRIGHT] a Horse Bridle and Saddle and a Cow and feather Bed and furniture at the age of Twenty One — or at his Mothers discretion and this plantation where I now live at his Mothers decease or Marriage and I give to my dear and loving Wife Two hundred Acres of land lying on deep River where I formerly used to live in Randolph County to sell at her discretion and likewise all my moveable property that I possess and if she marries, two thirds of the Estate is to be divided equal amongst the Children and if she dies without marrying, the principle Estate is to be divided equal amongst the all my children. Cumberland Co KY census for 1810 gives an Evans Wright over 45, one male under 10, one 10-16, two 16-26, five females and one slave. Chariton Co MO which was very large in early times gives record of Evans Wright and his wife deeding land to Claiborne Wright July 12, 1832, E 1/2 of N W 1/4 of 1-54-15 in book A, page 244. Evan Wright's wife was named Rebecca. This is verified by hiw will, Macon Co MO History, which says Evans was an early settler of Bevier Twp, Macon Co, MO Evans Wright Sr will, from Will Book NO 1, page 5 & 6, macon Co, MO In the name of our Lord, I Evans Wright Senr of the county of Macon and the state of MO being in good health and of sound mind and memory by the goodness of God calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is apointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. In the first place, after all my just debts are paid I will take my body to be decently interred in the earth from where it was taken. And as touching such worldy estate wherewith it has pleased God to Bless me in this ife, I give decree and dispose of in the following manner and form.
