"Jacob Deming settled in Hartford, where the birth of his first child is recorded upon the town records. At the May session of the General Court at Hartford in 1698 he was granted a sum of money as compensation for personal damage. . .he disappears entirely from the Hartford Records after the year 1703, and it is probably that he move away or died about that time.".²

     John Deming was born in 1615 at Shalford, County Essex, England.² John Deming was also known as John Demming. "The actual date of his death has never been discovered. he signed a codicil to his will Feb 3 1692, and this is the last recorded act of his life. When the public lands were alloted to the inhabitants in 1695, he did not draw a portion. It is probable that he died soon afgter 1692, although his will was not provied until 21 Nov 1705, and Savage and other geneologists have assumed that he lived until that year."

Hinman says that he was born in 1632, and if this earlier date is correct, he must have been born before his father moved to Wethersfield. "The date of his death has not been found, nor any record of the distribution of his estate, but on Apr 3 1726 his widow Martha joins with his son Isaac in a deed of land inherited from him. Nov 11 1719 he divided by deed to his sons, some of his property, including his home lot whih went to Isaac and Gideon.This would indicate that he died soon after, and no later transfer appears to have been made by him."^3,4,2

p. 15: "The identify of this man as son of Sergeant John Deming of Wethersfield has not been fully established. His gravestone states that at his death in 1742, he was "about 78." This would make his birth year 1764, three years later than the recorded birth of Joseph of Wethersfield, a discrepency which might easily occur. . .There is every reason to believe that he was son of Sergeant John Deming, for the records of Wethersfield fail to how any other fate of Joseph, the son of Sergeant John, who was born 1 Jun 1661, and no other person of the name Joseph Deming has been found to corespond to the record of this man."^2,3

     Narcissa Josephine Wilson was also known as Josie Wilson.² She was born on 15 August 1833 at Barren County, Kentucky.¹ She married Carroll William Denny at Kentucky on 18 July 1850.^2,1 Her married name was Denny.² Narcissa Josephine Wilson died on 24 July 1908 at Smith County, Tennessee, at age 74.¹

     Jacob Dewalt was Marriage; Person Source.² Unrecognized GEDCOM data: Unknown GEDCOM tag: _UID E385CD0F0D20154E845A441B3A2137EC8FDA. He was born on 8 February 1798 at North Carolina; Ancestry One World Tree has Ohio.³ He married Maria (Mary) Lentz, daughter of Johann Sebastian Lentz and Anna Margaretha Bechtel, on 26 May 1815 at Cabarrus County, North Carolina; Marriage bonded by her brother, B7- Jacob Lentz. LDS and LH disagree on POM--LH says Rowan Co. and LDS says Cabarrus Co. This marriage does not appear in Rowan Co. Marriages, 1753-1868. It does appear in Marriage Records of NC as in Cabarrus Co., on 25 Oct 1815.^4,5,6 Jacob Dewalt was E385CD0F0D20154E845A441B3A2137EC8FDA.⁶ He married Catherine Lentz on 24 March 1825 at Stark County, Ohio.³ Jacob Dewalt died on 31 October 1877 at Stark County, Ohio, at age 79.⁷

BO- Maria (Mary) Lentz. She shows as the last daughter and child of B- Bastian Lentz, Sr., and as unwed on his WILL, and assumed to be the youngest. She may have been older. It is believed that she lived for a while with her brother B7-Jacob LENTZ in Cabarrus Co., NC, and is shown as the Mary LENTZ marrying Jacob DEWALT on 26 Nay 1815 in Cabarrus Co., bonded by her brother B7- Jacob LENTZ.

Judging by the 1790 and 1800 censuses of Rowan Co., NC, she appears to have been living at home with B- Bastian Lentz, Sr. (See the entries on the 1790 and 1800 censuses in our entry for B- Bastian Lentz, Sr.)

Rowan Co., NC, Court records, p. 411, 4 Aug 1807, shows that the court ordered men to lay off one year's provisions for Mary Lentz. No widow Mary Lentz was found to fit this date, but we believe this was for BO- Maria (Mary) Lentz. This was soon after her father made his Will on 16 Mar 1807.

Cabarrus Co. shows that Mary Lentz married Jacob Dewalt on 26 May 1815, sponsored (bonded) by Jacob Lentz. The only Jacob Lentz in Cabarrus at this time was B7- Jacob Lentz and Mary Yost. The B7- family is well documented. This must be BO- Mary Lentz who was living with her brother B7- Jacob Lentz on his 100 acres in Cabarrus who was the sponsor, or bondsman.

Turner with whom she had made her home for the thirty-two years of her widowhood. Mrs. DeWitt lived in Kentucky in the trying times of the civil war. She gave two sons to the defence of this country one of whom gave up his life on the field of battle. In 1864 she with her family moved to Illinois where they lived until they came to Elk County, Kansas, in 1871. She and her family were identified with the early history of this country, and will be remembered by the older citizens of Howard and vicinity. Mrs. DeWitt has been a member and a worker in the Christian church since her early youth, exemplifying the Christian life in the home. Owing to her advanced age and infirmities she has been deprived of
the privileges of attending public services for several years past, but have been quiet and patient and with a heart full of heaven’s own sunshine has waited for the call home. Her age was 87 years, 6 months and 13 days.
