Ruth Adele Rolfe Kittredge - Advertiser Democrat - (Mar/25/2007) Mrs. Ruth Adele Rolfe Kittredge
NORWAY - Ruth Adele Rolfe Kittredge, 89, died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Albany on October 29, 1917 to Edwin and Alice Rolfe. She married Herbert Kittredge on April 1, 1939. They made their home in the Bethel area until they retired to Hanover in the 1970s.
Mrs. Kittredge moved to South Paris after her husband's death to be nearer family. She spent most of her life as a mother and homemaker but after her children were grown she worked for several businesses in the Bethel area. She always wanted for her family what circumstances didn't allow her folks to give to her (schooling, health care, regular dental appointments and a second pair of shoes for special occasions).
The Kittredge home seemed to always be the household where all the neighborhood children liked to gather. Her home was always full of love, laughter and fun. She instilled in her four children a wonderful work ethic and taught them all how to live full and productive lives.
She loved to correspond with all her family and many friends and never stopped her writing to the family (and extended family) to hold us together - and amazed everyone when, at 80, she learned and used WebTV to e-mail all her family and friends. Her letters by hand, though, will always be treasured by those that she corresponded with.
Mrs. Kittredge leaves behind a sister, Arlene Merrill of Otisfield; a son, Walter and his wife Sandy of Fort Myers, FL; two daughters, Patricia Brown and her husband Blair of Brunswick and Kathy Bean and her husband Harlan of South Paris; seven grandchildren and 10 beloved great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Herbert; a son, Laurier; four brothers, Nelson, Marshall, Winfred and Harold and three sisters, Thelma Card, Norma Jodrey and Betsy Grover.
At Mrs. Kittredge's request, there will be graveside services in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery in West Bethel. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenleaf Funeral Home, Bethel..1,6,7
